Hey, have you guys noticed that I am posting like practically every other message here since I got on the site in October? Does that make me the biggest geek ever, or what? I was hoping we could get a little connectivity going here... but you can't just lurk - you have to post too! Come on people, throw me a bone here!

I was starting to wonder if you needed a hobby Paul? Just kidding, I'll try and chime in once in a while, I have been lurking.

Vanessa -

I am so excited for you! And of course it's never too late... what do you think you want to do/be when you grow up? We'll celebrate with a toast and drink at the reunion!

I forgot to ask if anyone knows of former teachers and if any will be invited to the reunion... When I wrote the card to Mr V. earlier this month I sort of invited him. Okay... I did invite him. Hope that was ok?!? I've always wondered what became of Mr Mitchell (HS Biology)...

Update for Jason, he had his surgery one week ago today, came home on Thursday. He is doing well. He has to go back on Christmas Eve to discuss with the doctors on what the treatment plan will be. His tumor is now a full grade III Astrocytoma (brain cancer), there is 4 grades, but it has become aggressive. For full update you can log onto: www.caringbridge.org and then type in jasonwhittier (all 1 word). As Greta can probably agree, this is such a wonderful site. Thanks.
I have Have talked to Trent Johnson several times and have bugged him to log on, but some things never change. So Trent, if you are reading this: "Profile".
I did just forward this info to Wendy Mittelsdorf (Eisenbath). I do still keep in touch with her.

First time I became acquainted with Jason, he was playing a basketball game against us, wearing some sort of white plastic beak to protect his broken nose. So I know that he has always been tough, a fighter. He's gonna fight through this too. I'll check out caringbridge for updates.

Jon, that was funny, but I do have a new hobby. It's called facebook. It's not just for kids anymore. I'd encourage everyone to register over there too...It's just another way for us to better stay in touch.

Update on Mr. V: He is continuing to recover from a second surgery, but is making progress. They are finally weaning him from the ventilator. He may soon be breathing through a trach tube, which will be a big step forward for him. I'm glad you invited him Patty - I think anything like that will give him motivation to keep making progress.

Hey Patty - i have tried to track down Mr. Mitchell a number of times over the years through the miracle of the innernets, but have never come up with anything. No matter how many times you google "mark mitchell blackhawks" you will get no answers.

Greta and her family have headed back to New York. They will be on the Today Show, Monday December 22nd and also in a special Monday night, Look back in 2008, Prime Time Special, I believe it is at 7pm.
Hope you don't mind that I posted this Greta, but I follow Nick's story and he is truely an inspiration.

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hi all- great site. What a flashback to see everyone's name again. Tiffany my prayers are with you and your famiy. Greta's family and Nick are an inspiration. Congrats to Vanessa on your hard work. I saw Mr. Jenkins a few weeks ago when I took my daughter to see Santa in Osceola (about an hour drive). I have done that a few other years. It is great to hear what everyone is doing. I have been lurking around here and decided to finally post.

Glad to see you here Deanne!

I spaced out and missed the Nelson family on the Today show last week. Anyone know if there is a link to some net video?

Deanne Demulling (Meyer)

Paul (and anyone lese) If you go to the today show and scroll down some, you can find the story (no regrets) and see the video. I missed it too, but caught it that night on the year in review. I hope this works-- http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28350077/ Try this link.

Hi all! Katie + I have also been tracking Nicks progress, truly an inspiration to our family. What a heroic little boy!

Tiffany, how is Jason doing now?

It's a shame so many of us live in the area + don't see each other more often!

Jon, I ran into Scott Carlson last week + said you may be thinking about the Boulevard Bar + Grill in Dresser for the reunion. I spoke with Brian + Marie + got the tour on Friday, they seem very willing to work with the class of 89'. Private bar + banquet room, No Charge! I'll be checking out the service + atmosphere starting Tuesday night 1/13/09, they have invited some local businesses for a taste testing that evening.

Thanks, Fatboy :)

Jason update: This has truly been the best recovery out of his 3 surgeries, even with the additional vision loss. He started this week out pretty rough with the flu, but seems to have recovered from that. We will be heading down to Rochester on Friday for his first round of chemo (Avastin), he will have to have treaments once every 2 weeks, at this time we don't know for how long. This is actually his 3rd type of chemo. He says he is doin' alright. Thanks to all who have kept him/us in your thoughts and prayers.

The Boulevard in Dresser sounds like a nice possibly to me. (free??? nothing is free is it?)

Great news about Jason! Good Luck with the future treatments that he will have to endure.

I agree there is no such thing as "FREE" but they are trying to reopen this + just want the food + drink{s} business.

Take care all!

Hey All...

Saw Jason at the Polk County Sheriff's Road Kill buffet fundraiser...he looked great. Seems in real high spirits! God Bless to Tiff and the whole family.

As for the Boulevard, that would be awesome...I've got a catering estimate from Ready Randy's in NR if we do Potting's....

Any of the Potting's clan have an update on Kenny?

Dan (and others) ~
Last time we stopped in to visit with Kenny he was in great spirits and doing pretty well. Plans were to stop in again tomorrow afternoon/evening on our way back from a bowling tournament.

Thanks Rochelle....keep us informed. As for me, I'd prefer to give Kenny the business if we could. Besides, we wouldn't have to worry about breaking anything!

HELLO EVERYONE... I ALWAYS GO RIGHT TO PROFILES AND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ALL THIS CHATTING WAS GOING ON! TIFF I AM GLAD TO HEAR JASON IS DOING SO GOOD, THAT CHEMO CAN BE REALLY TOUGH... ON A GOOD NOTE MY COUSIN (36 YR)WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE 4 GALLBLADDER CANCER IN JAN. OF 07 AND WAS GIVEN 5 MO. TO LIVE NOW SHE IS IN REMISSION. UNCLE KENNY WAS TOLD HE WOULDN'T MAKE THROUGH LAST CHRISTMAS (O7) AND HE WAS IN OUR FAMILY PICTURE THIS YEAR....(DAN ITS NICE OF YOU TO WANT TO GIVE THEM BUSINESS BUT I THINK JAN GETS MORE STRESSED OUT TRYING TO DEAL WITH THE BUSINESS AND KEEPING DATES AND PARTIES. WE COULD ALWAYS GO ON A ROADTRIP FOR ONE THERE... WHO KNOWS I HAVE BEEN PREGNANT FOR 2 OUT OF THE 3 REUNIONS SO I COULD BE THE SOBER CAB... JUST KIDDING!) ANYWAYS I WILL KEEP THINKING GOOD THOUGHTS AND KNOW THAT THEY WORK! I FEEL REALLY BAD ASKING BUT WHAT HAPPENED WITH GRETA AND HER SON, I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING?

OH I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I SEE JIM ERICKSON ALL THE TIME AND HE HAS NEVER BEEN INVITED TO A REUION...CAN YOU BELIVE IT! (I THINK HE FEELS BAD-DON'T TELL HIM I SAID THAT)SO I THINK WE SHOULD BUT WE SHOULD HAVE AN INVITE MAILED OR SOMETHING SO HE DOESN'T THINK ITS JUST ME INVITING HIM. DO WE INVITE ALL FROM K-12?

02/04/09 08:58 PM #53

Tiffany Nelson (Regnier)

Thanks Missy-they actually gave Jason 6 to 18 months to live and that was in June of 2001, so we cannot always listen to the doctors, they pretty much give us the statistics, but every person is different.
For the reunion-maybe we want to start at Potting's for one and then head off to wherever we need to.
Paul-thanks for your notes to Jason on the caringbridge site. It is fun to come home everyday and read what everyone has posted.
Also~thanks to all who have sent their thoughts and prayers our way, keep them comming, I really think they work.

THANK YOU DEANNE FOR NICK'S VIDEO LINK... GRETA IF YOU READ THIS I WANTED TO TELL YOU WHAT A WONDERFUL SON YOU HAVE! I JUST FOUND OUT BY READING THESE MESSAGES AND WATCHED YOUR GOOD MORNING VIDEOS AND WAS SO TOUCHED. NICK IS SO BRAVE, MATURE, AND APPRECIATIVE SO MANY THINGS THAT KIDS TODAY ARE RUNNING SHORT ON. WHAT AN INSPIRATION HE IS TO EVERYONE!!! THE BEST PART WAS SEEING THAT HE DOESN'T SEE HIS LEGS AS A CHALLENGE AND THAT HE STILL HAS HUMOR. TELL HIM TO BE CAREFUL WITH THE TOILET...(OF COURSE MY BOYS THOUGHT THAT WAS FUNNY!) YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!

Allow me to suggest that everyone take some time to read Jason's caring bridge journal. I really enjoy Jason's insights on life. He has definitely prompted me to think some deep thoughts lately - which is awesome. Is a future as a motivational speaker a possibility for Jason? I think so.

Plus, to hear he set up a driving range in the living room yesterday was just outstanding. I am sure that Tiffany was equally amused! Right?

Sooo...my mind is being blown by this enormous blast from the past! It's been a long time. Cheers, all! (^_^)
